Worm Factory in Residence at Artwave 2026
We’re very excited to share that we’ll be back at Artwave again this year, this time with a residency in Marine Workshops for Hospitable Environment’s ‘Emerging Sussex’ exhibition.
Join us on Saturday 19 September from 12pm-3:30pm for a range of FREE drop-in workshops!
There will be:
- 📚 Zine making
- 🪲 Make your own bug for the collective Worm Factory quilt
- 🪡 Create your own mini wall hanging
- 🎪 Micro cinema
- 🧩 Chillout and calm space
- 🪱 Worms???!?!

WHERE: Second Floor (East Sussex College Group classroom) in Marine Workshops, Newhaven, BN9 0ER.
Accessibility information:
We will be on the second floor of Marine Workshops, in a college classroom. This will be accessible by both stairs and lift. It will be a lowlight and low noise space, keeping it as calm and neurodivergent friendly as possible. We will be there to help guide you through workshops, but there is no pressure to engage in group activity, simply drop in and take part in a way that works for you. We will have ear defenders and sensory toys available, as well as plenty of spaces to sit and rest.

A weekly group combining sport and art into one creative ball of fun and self-expression. Expect activities like painting by throwing darts at balloons full of paint, stop motion, zine making, photography and more!
Margate Film Festival 2025 Screening: Bugs on Film at Crab Museum
A selection of bug-themed shorts including The Cobweb Hotel (1936), Insect Zoo (1950), and The Cameraman’s Revenge (1912), preparing audiences for the Roger Corman venue-inspired feature finale, Attack of the Crab Monsters (1957).
Fundraiser and Film Screening: Is There Anybody Out There? (2023)
A film screening and fundraiser of Is There Anybody Out There? in Eastbourne on a sensory bus, raising money for Defiant Sports to help them build the first fully accessible sports centre in Sussex.
BFI: Art of Action at Towner Eastbourne – Stop Motion Workshop & Screening (Worm Factory x Toadlickers Collective)
A stop motion workshop teaching people the basics of stop motion animation, and apps they can use to create for free. Followed by a screening of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010).

An opportunity to collage your alter-ego, using various magazines and word prompts, followed by a screening of Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022).
Storytelling & Worldbuilding: Creating a World People Don’t Want to Leave (Talk)
A presentation exploring how to create a story that draws people in, and a world that they don’t want to leave. Part of Games Fest 2025 at White Rock Theatre, Hastings.
